QUOTE
Dear Sirs,

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the GTS badge, MOTOR magazine is organising an article surrounding various GTS-badged Holdens, beginning of course with the HK Monaro GTS.

We are looking for a number of vehicles and owners to join us on a road trip to Mt Panorama in late May.

We are looking for an HT GTS to be available on May 28/29/30, while the remainder of the cars we will only need for May 29 and 30.

In addition to the HT, we’re searching for the following:

HK 327 GTS
HQ GTS Coupe
HZ GTS (yes, technically not a Monaro, but…)

This is an opportunity for owners to be part of a larger convoy to Mt Panorama and spend some time with like-minded enthusiasts. In addition, their vehicles will be immortalised in the pages of MOTOR magazine, with opportunity for professional images of your member’s cars to be kept for posterity. Further, the new 6.2-litre VE GTS will be on hand for participants to inspect.

Let me know if any of your club members are interested and available.

Cheers,

Typical - lost in the haze - the HJ the best & rarest coupe ever made!

Don't worry fellow HJ owners - I have defended our honour by emailing Damion on our behalf rectifying this gross oversight.

Nice! mad.gif

How many HJ coupes where made ? Are they the rarest coupe ever made?

commanderwhite- 05-19-2008
I have been reliably informed that only 462 of the HJ GTS coupes were ever made.

To all my fellow HJ owners I have just received a reply from Damion in regards to our model not being included in his article re the 40th Anniversary.

He said that our model was not significant enough & that the models he will writing & taking photos about are more the better known models & such he will not be including the HJ in his story.

Also you LE coupe owners you are also on the outer that's because he doesn't believe that your's is of any importance either.

I wrote back & told him that he was wrong & that our model should be included & that us owners would not happy to be ignored by his magazine.

Personally I will never buy this mag ever again as a pro-*test*-('") of his decision not to include us & I think all HJ owners should write to him to complain.

NOT HAPPY JAN

Sooooo was the club able to help them even though they've insulted the J owners?

commanderwhite- 05-26-2008
I have been buying THAT mag since I got my license all those years ago but NO MORE - THEY CAN STICK IT UP THEIR A---S!!!!!!!

Tiny- 05-26-2008
I can understand how you feel Wes, I dont agree with what they've said either, but from a club perspective i think that we should have done what we could to help out.
I Reckon it would have been in the club's best interest to have the positive media exposure that it could potentially have been.

Maybe they changed their minds and saw us as a bunch of whingers?? huh.gif

If it was, and eventually it will be, the anniversary of "THE NEW GENERATION CARS...... (for me it would be in 2044 i.e. my car was off the rack in 2004) but the onset of these new and improved beasts was from 2002- I can see that there may be some gripes with the CV8 owners as well.

The CV8 badge started in 2002, but would they celebrate the CV8 badge as a whole or the specific series or the Z's after that?? dry.gif

Ponder me this biggrin.gif

Ohhhh...... from what I heard I thought Simmo got to you??? LOL biggrin.gif

Some good comments there & TB your car one day will be a collector's dream but they are taking up there this week that Coupe 60 which is a fantastic looking car but it's not a MONARO but it will feature in the story.

Oh well it's their loss for not having my model in it & also my money which I will gladly leave in my pocket for mags that at least acknowledge all models of our beautiful cars.

No biggie from my point of view cause I think the article was about "GTS" and not CV8 or even "Monaro". Just out of interest did anyone assist cause it would have been positive from the club point of view and great positive exposure.

The new generation are the HSVs particularly the GTS.....I can see the thrust of the article is "Bathurst winning GTS's" hence the HK and HT. The HZ was the last of the old generation GTS...... unsure.gif

I probably woulda done it just for the photos. You would not have got a big spread in the mag but just having it in a top publication would have been a buzz.

You are angry lately Wes, what's happened? Did you miss me?
