Hey people, just heard on the radio (MMM and 2Gay) this morning about a "Classic Car show" at Liverpool Mega Centre to be held this Saturday/Sunday.

Does anyone have any more information about it? Anyone displaying their car?

The ad said it was showing Falcon GTs, Torries, Chargers and Monaros.

Anyone else interested in going down for a squizz?

If you had paid attention at the various club meetings, instead of your usual shenanigans with Pops, this was discussed regarding entries. I am not sure whether anyone actually entered this one as it was a "leave your car there" type event and security was a bit of an issue.

I doubt the car you saw was from the show - if I remember correctly they're in lockdown until Sunday night.

Ok, well I went yesterday and I have to say that it was so poor that I actually felt sorry for the organisers...

The posters outside said 300 cars would be there. I would estimate maybe 30...
No Monaros. No Toranas. Maybe 4 GT falcons of various ages, and a Charger. Other than that, a couple of rods and older Plymouth/Dodges (nice, but not what was advertised!)

About all I can say is that I think they got the admission price right: free.

Mmmm sorry I was doing my nails today mate. Sounds like I shouldn't have missed it. Hopefully they try again and it gets a bit more support next year. Was the admission free initially do you know or was it cause of the lack of support in the form of cars do you reckon???

If the admission is free then perhaps the organisers do need a little more support next time to get it up an running, whether it is for charity or whatever, it was obviously not for profit of the organisers.

I don't know if it was for charity to be honest, nor if the entry fee was dropped.

A few other observations:
- There is no way in hell they could have fit 300 cars in the area. 100 maybe, but that would have been tight (it was indoors where one of the big stores would have been)
- The fact that our club didn't get notice of the event until pretty late (or at least I'm assuming that is the case!) makes me think that probably the other clubs received similar late notices
- a long weekend might be a good time for people to go looking, but probably not all that tempting for those who might display their cars
- competing with the footy (both days, basically) is probably not too wise a move either...

But like you say, hopefully they don't give up, and instead just build on what they learned this year.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting on sun. I missed out on this Liverpool show well, doesn't sound like i missed much at all would still like to hear the brief on it at the meeting, might take things from it to make our show so much better!!!
