Hi All,
Just received the Ozevent photos from last Monaro Action Day at Wakefield Park ( 23rd March 2006 )
so have updated the website with 18 new pics, posted two new videos from the day as well.
All the old pics and vids are gone for now, they will be archived and linked back in eventually.
http://wild.windellama.com/monaro Cheers, Paul
Look like it was a great day - pity I had to work but that's life. Anyway maybe next time!
Yeah and the best thing is that it doesn't look like it gets out of hand either.
Yeah I wouldn't want my baby damaged especially but someone else it would be bad enough if I did it myself.
Do I hear all talk from you two huh
"Oh I don't want to put too many km's on her, she's not a circuit car, wakefield is too far, my tyres won't stand up to the track, my brakes would not last the distance"
Enough talk, show what you are made of by producing your CAR on the TAR hahahaha
I have to say that the video has convinced me that it would be a damn good day. What particularly impressed me was the fact that there didn't seem to be the "red mist rising" (sung to the tune of the Credence classic Bad Moon Rising).
Yes I would like to give my car a couple of laps, in safety, if I go off myself then I only have myself to blame but it some other numbskull punted me off, I would be less than impressed.
Sorry I'm about a month behind adding to this string,
Driving anywhere in Sydney is way more dangerous than lapping
Wakefield,
Paul,

Yeah I hear you Paul but the car is insured on the public roads of Sydney. Would hate to lose it cause someone else lost it.
Got my newsletter the other day, it was good to see that 7 NSW club members went drag racing, including the the Pres
Maybe some of them will have a fang at Wakefield next MAD, at least we
know they are not too scared to have a go
I hear what your saying about insurance, and understand that you would not be covered on the track.........my HG is not insured so it makes no difference to me if I'm on or off the track, I have to be careful, on the track you are in control (mostly) off the track it's all up to lady luck....I've owned the HG for 11 years and the only time
it has been damaged was IN THE SHED when a storm shook loose an
8 foot length of 3 x 2 hardwood out of the rafters, luckily it only hit the
front of one mudguard but goes to show your car is never safe ...anywhere
I am originally from Sydney but have lived in country NSW for over 20 years,
we have our own hazards like Kangaroos and shiny black Toyota Landbruisers
that shower your Monaro with stones on the dirt road but Sydney traffic
now scares the hell out of me
Anyway, I'll be flying the flag for the NSW club at the Muscle Car Shootout
on my own I guess......do I get any Brownie points Vince ?
(TM: Sorry Paul had to edit out the run location for insurance purposes)

The very best of luck up north mate and it is because things look a little controlled that I am very tempted to have a go around Wakefield. I must admit it would be nice to have a go in "controlled" conditions. As I understand it there is a lot of room off the track if you have a bit of a loose with no walls too close to the track.
I guess I have a couple of months to get my head around it
The Muscle Car Shootout was amazing, not sure on numbers but looked
like over 100 Monaros, Camaros, Mustangs, GT Falcons street and
race cars all mixing it up on the track in groups of 8 each session.
Morgan Park track is tighter than Wakefield and though the run off
areas are not too bad the fences are a lot closer, some are concrete !
also track management decided to put loose tyres on the outside of
most corners to discourage putting wheels off the track but as far as
I know no one hit anything..
Congrats to the Queenslanders for getting so many cars there,
lots of spectators too..
It was a 1500 ml (2500km) round trip for my 308 HG... it ran great on the
track ( exept a bit of slip with the LSD) and besides a slipping fan belt
and blown interior light globe no other probs...
