whoa.. gets nothin but rude from the HQ on!
QUOTE
The Monaro reappeared with the HQ range in 1971, but was watered down with the introduction of a four-door alongside the coupe. The Monaro lost its "halo car" status when GMH's racing duties were passed to the Torana XU-1 and it was left to limp along before being retired in 1976.

watered down? retired in '76? rolleyes.gif

Hmmm...yeah the writer is clearly not a fan of anything post HQ350, and definitely doesn't think a Monaro should have 4 doors!!

I guess *technically* he is correct since the HZ GTS was not badged "Monaro" (though I believe the promo materials did say Monaro?)

Still what would I know, I'm just a wannabe with my LE. tongue.gif

forgetting the HZ, the HX which clearly had monaro badges, was RELEASED in july 1976. so it went for a lil while longer atleast wink.gif

as far as the 2 and 4 door thing goes, i just tell people its a 'GTS'.
thanks to the HZ and moreso HSV; when people hear GTS its clearly gonna be the top of the line - performance 4dr. smile.gif

Oh, but it's so much funnier when a HJ 4 door GTS, is wearing HX GTS's on doors. Heard some great arguments people have with each other over my car laugh.gif

Yeah I can relate to that - the amount of shows I have been to & people have stated that Holden never made a HJ coupe & mine was a HQ with a HJ Premier front on it - no bloody idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!
